Loewenherz (Principal) is from fully imported bloodlines (Polarschnee X Liebchen IV). Loewenherz was bred by P & S McLean and B & M Pyke. He stood at Rakaunui Warmblood Stud from 1995 until his passing at 27 years of age.
A Refining Stallion
Trakehners are the most elegant of the Warmblood breeds, and are known for beautiful heads and refinement. Beacuse of this they make make excellent showing horses. In Europe Trakehner stallions are used over other European Warmblood breeds as a common and accepted way of adding quality and refinement to their type. A good example of this cross is the super stallion Totilas by the Trakehner sire Gribaldi.
Loewenherz progeny are no exception to this rule. He adds beauty, height and elegance to his offspring.
Exceptional Character and Trainablilty
Loewenherz was wonderful stallion to handle in every way, whether in a competition environment or at home. He passes on his lovely easy temperament and trainability.
The True Allrounder
Loewenherz was the true all round stallion. He participated sucessfully in all disciplines, including paralympics and as a childs learner's pony! He won Show Jumping and Show Hunter futurities at HOY, also placed in Saddle Hunter HOY, level 5 dressage Novice Eventing, and even competed at NITE events including the quadrille team several times.
Loewenherz' sire Polarschnee was also sire of Andrew Nicholson's 1986 Olympic eventor, Jaegermeister. Jaegermeister also had a sucessful career as a GP Showjumper.

A huge percentage of Loewenherz offspring have become successful competition horses - including Rakaunui Mastermind (Eventing), On the Ball (PSG Dressage), and Rakaunui Gabriella (L5 Dressage). Notably, Loewenherz is the sire of Dunstan Dolly (Bred by David Goodin and ridden by Katie McVean). Dunstan Dolly's wins included the Silver Fern Stakes at HOY and the Young Rider class at Hickstead.
