PERFORMANCE AWARDS

Subsequent to their classification into the NZWB Studbook, a mare or stallion may be further elevated to 'Elite' or 'Principal' status by their performance in sport and/or by the performance of their progeny.  See below for the award criteria for Principal and Elite status.

Stallion Awards:  Principal and Elite Status

Criteria:
Stallions must have produced at least FIVE NZWA registered foals in order to be considered and also must be in good standing with the NZWA with all fees paid and service certificates returned for the past breeding season.

Performances must have been achieved at official ESNZ competitions.  Overseas achievements of the same level / standard may also be accepted.

Stallion owners will need to provide proof to the NZWA Committee that the stallion has met the criteria for each level of the award.

Stallions achieving these awards will be presented with a wall plaque and Certificate of Attainment as well as having their status added to the Online Stud Book and special mention on both social media and in the newsletter.

 

Principal Status will be awarded to those studbook stallions who can prove:

  • Three scores of 65%  in dressage competitions at Level 5 and above (excluding musical freestyles).  These must have been obtained at ESNZ Regional Championships, National Championships of the Horse of the Year Show OR
  • Three double clears in show jumping competitions at 1.30m and above OR
  • Three placings 1st to 6th in eventing competitions at 2 Star level and above – must have finished on less than 60 penalties
  • OR have produced FIVE or more registered progeny who have met these requirements

Elite Status will be awarded to those studbook stallions who can prove:

  • 3 scores of 65 % or above (excluding musical freestyles) in dressage competitions at Prix St Georges level and above – these must be obtained at a CDI, NZ National Championships or the NZ Horse of the Year Show OR
  • Three double clears or 1-4th placings in show jumping competitions at Grand Prix level – these must be obtained at the NZ National Championships, Horse of the Year Show or World Cup Qualifying Shows OR
  • Three placings 1-6th in eventing 3-star competitions or above – must have finished on less than 60 penalties
  • OR have produced FIVE or more registered progeny who have met these requirements

Mare Awards:  Principal and Elite Status

Criteria:
Mares must have produced at least ONE NZWA registered foal in order to be considered.

Performances must have been achieved at official ESNZ competitions.  Overseas achievements of the same level / standard may also be accepted.

Mare owners will need to provide proof to the NZWA Committee that the mare has met the criteria for each level of the award.

Mares achieving these awards will be presented with a wall plaque and Certificate of Attainment as well as having their status added to the Online Stud Book and special mention on both social media and in the newsletter.

 

Principal Status will be awarded to those studbook mares who can prove:

  • Three scores of 65% or above at level 4 dressage or above (excluding Musical Freestyles) These must have been obtained at ESNZ Regional Championships, National Championships of the Horse of the Year Show OR
  • Three double clears in show jumping competitions at 1.25m and above OR
  • Three placings 1-6th in eventing competitions at 1 Star level and above – must have finished on less than 60 penalties
  • OR have produced two or more registered progeny who have met these requirements

Elite Status will be awarded to those studbook mares who can prove:

  • Three scores of 65% in dressage competitions at Prix St Georges level (excluding Musical Freestyles) These must have been obtained at ESNZ Regional Championships, National Championships of the Horse of the Year Show
  • or above OR
  • Three double clears or 1-4th placings in show jumping competitions at 1.40 or above – these must be obtained at the NZ National Championships, Horse of the Year Show or World Cup Qualifying Shows OR
  • Three placings 1-6th in eventing competitions at 3-star level or above – must have finished on less than 60 penalties
  • OR have produced two or more registered progeny who have met these requirements
